There aren't many groups in Canada that can match the legacy of The Irish Rovers. TV stars, huge concerts draws, and three major memorable hits. Plus, you have the longevity. This is the group's 45th year together. And their popularity continues. They are on a national tour, have a brand new CD, and a TV special filmed in Ireland coming up. - Bob Mersereau, CBC 2011
The sinking of the RMS Titanic is one of the largest peacetime maritime tragedies in history. Original Rover, George Millar shares his birthday of April 14, with the date the ship met its icy end on her maiden voyage a century ago. The legend of this mighty ship has both haunted and intrigued George all these years. For this landmark album, George wrote a tribute to the legend of The Titanic, in song. When listening to the single, we get a feeling of descending the ocean depths to meet the great ship at her resting place, then she quickly sweeps us away on a journey to her glory days, charging across the high seas. "Being from Northern Ireland and born on April 14th, the legend of the Titanic has been with me all my life. It took the labour of fifteen thousand Irishmen to build her - she was the pride of Belfast," says George Millar of The Irish Rovers.

This year the band celebrates 46 years as recording artists. To mark this achievement, The Irish Rovers are back on the small screen with a national television special “Home In Ireland”, which was filmed entirely on-location in Northern Ireland. It was broadcast November through January. Watch for it on your local PBS network across Canada and the US again in March.
The single, W h o r e s And Hounds brings back the rough and tumble feel of a town brimming with pubs and roving sailors. What goes through a sailor's mind as he heads to a new port? The Rovers tell you in this drinking song for the new millennium. After 3 or 4 weeks at sea, a bit of recreation was required and nature walks or church going, while noble and uplifting, were not necessarily part of it.
Twenty years ago, The Irish Rovers had a massive #1 hit with Wasn't That A Party. The lads were the real authorities on the subject, literally - the song was written about them by their friend Tom Paxton after he took part in one of their post-show parties.
Now twenty years later, W h o r e s and Hounds continues the tradition, but in their true Celtic style. The album contains both traditional songs and original numbers written by George Millar telling tales of the sea, me matie.
"Throughout the years, these international ambassadors of Irish music have maintained their timeless ability to deliver a rollicking, rousing performances with their songs becoming anthems of revelry and joy among generation after generation of fans." Belfast Telegraph, 2010
